“Supplier of Sustainable Technologies”: ASSOMAC study on Sustainability.

On April 23 and 25 (2019), was held in Paris, the city of COP21, the Sustainable Brands, the largest European conference on sustainability and innovation,; the state of sustainability and its future were discussed and eco-sustainable production processes

According to a recent OECD report, the global consumption of raw materials has gone from 27 gigatons (gt) in 1970 to 89 in 2017, estimating that in 2060 it will even reach 167 gt. Growth will be more sustained for emerging economies and there will also be greater efficiency as economies become more mature. Again, according to the OECD, almost two thirds of greenhouse gas emissions derive from the extraction, processing and use of raw materials.

To identify the environmental impact reduction objectives, the main operators in the sector followed the Science Based Target  (SBT) method, an initiative for a very effective "Corporate Climate Action". Science Based Target  (SBT) is a defined path for sustainable future-proof growth, specifying how much and how fast you need to reduce your greenhouse gas emissions.

The participants in this Corporate Climate Action initiative therefore assessed the total energy impact on production and hypothesized the necessary actions to achieve a reduction in the greenhouse gas emissions of the fashion industry of 5%, 10%, 30% and 50% by 2030.
